The fact that we do boosts our infant mortality rates and skews the ability to reach conclusions as to meaningfully comparative statistics.

That, and also its part of the reason that we spend more than most countries. Obviously its not enough to explain all or even most of the difference but it plays a part as do similar difficult cases later on in life.

It's also known that many countries are less than scrupulous in their record keeping in that area in any case. A dead baby in the US dies in a hospital and is recorded or incites a police investigation. In some countries it's just more refuse by the side of the road.

Canada, of course, is not among those.
