Hope you gave him a good swift kick in the shins for killing the Arrow and then blowing all that cash on the Bomarc nonsense ... that was the star wars of the day, how bloody stupid ... he was right about the flag though, it's missing the blue edges to denote a mari usque ad mare and the more rational aspects of tory principle, as well as traditional colouration - there is no Burke in that rag, it is revolution in place of sober evolution

I met Tommy Douglas, helped him to move house one time ... a genuine human being, you had to like him even though you were reading Ayn Rand at the time ... missed a chance to really meet Preston Manning, hesitated a few seconds too long wondering what i'd say, and the gap in the crowd filled in ... ate with Trudeau in an italian place on Crescent street, twice or three times, it was no big deal, compared to the food, which was great, everybody gave him his space and just nodded and smiled when you made eye contact with him, which i think happened to me once ... of course to my montrealer girlfriend du jour it was a big deal, first thing she had ever said about the place was that T ate there, then she mentioned the food -g- ... not sure i'd bother crossing the street to meet Mulroney, Turner, Chrétien, Martin, any of those .... one PM who's always interested me was our second, MacKenzie ... maybe originally because he gets listed as a stonemason, and therefore qualifies for Actual Human Being status, in fact he had worked up a business as a builder before getting drafted as PM when several others turned it down ... but he did quite well, repaired a number of messes left by our founding drunkard, and left us a fair bit further down the road to effective democratic autonomy
