Howabout going back to the old rules for filibusters, where a minority of over 40 senators could keep debate from being closed out but they actually had to continue to debate. It would make the filibuster harder, but still keep it around for extreme situations.

If the Republicans made the democrats do a real filibuster, then it would make a difference, but they no longer require them to keep talking for as long as they want the filibuster to continue...

Bush was elected by a majority of the country, we deserve to have our judges appointed.

Who's to say that a future Democrat majority won't use the nuclear option on Republicans? It's on the table now. We have to pull the trigger. The only way out would be to fix it so they can't nuke us later.
