There is a lot of wet paint. Eighteen blank check companies have gone public since August 2003, raising gross proceeds of $721 million, and only four have either announced or completed deals. That leaves fourteen companies sitting on $470 million. There are another eight companies currently in registration, looking to raise at least $540 million.
