At the 581st in Landstuhl

Been there, done that, got the T shirt.
Got medevaced to Landstuhl in 80. Then got medevaced to Letterman from Landstuhl. That injury was the one that got me medically retired Mar 1, 82.
Some of our guys were going through there then. Were you there?

The only other time I had been there was to go to Wiesbaden a coupla times in the early 70s to renew the high altitude chamber qual card for HALO jumps.

I sure hope Landstuhl has some newer facilities. That place was doggy in 1980.
In 1969, I got medevaced to Zama Hospital in Japan (for 4 months). It was doggy too. I guess I was one of those who needed more duck training.

Thank God for the morale building donut dollies. They may be outta business. Never hear about them today.
Don't suppose you ever made a move in that direction. :o)

Thank goodness I had 20 years and 4 days on active duty. That made me eligible for a new DOD program.
Got a letter today from Dept of The Army that I've been found eligible and approved for CRSC (Combat related Special Compensation). It is a new program for military retirees with combat wounds and combat injuries.

Getting a pay raise in 60 days retroactive to I don't know when and don't know how much.

Geez, and I have never reported for the agent orange test and never had the PTSD interview. With CRSC now approved, a few days at a VA clinic could run this up into some serious money. And on top of all that, SS payments begin in 10 months.

Told the wifey that this money has to go to the grandkids college funds. #6 and #7 are due in 60-75 days.

Ish, I want to tell you that I spent over 2 years of my 20 as a patient and the Army Medical Corps has the finest and kindest human beings on the face of the earth.
Thank you.
