Misprediction of demand would be one. Intel has a track record in this field.

Very possibly misprediction. Who doesn't? If this is the reason it means the demand for mobile products has increased dramatically. Or maybe chipset capacity is constrained?

Or maybe it really is poor yields? The Dothan die is quite a bit smaller than the P4. Hard to understand why they'd have poor yields that don't show up for both product lines.
