HuaMao(Chinese for Spotted Cat<g>),

it is true that China has all kinds of junk food from the US sold on market, but they are not popular except for kids and young people. The snacks for majority Chinese are still old fashioned, like fruit, nuts (including peanuts, sun flower seeds, pumpkin seeds, water melon seeds...), dates, sugared fruit (Chinese-type of junk food), Chinese-style bakery... Tea is still much more popular than soft drinks for most of Chinese. Candy drops is still much more popular than candy bars. I have never seen one-pound bag chips in China. The largest is half pound, majority is single serving small bag.

Price is more expensive for many western style food, but custom is a more important factor. No one will spend the same amount of money, not to mention more money, to eat the food less pleased<g>.

That said, good green tea in China now is also pretty expensive, US$50-70 for 500 grams, some best ones could be in hundreds of US$ for a pound.

BTW, since it is such a fashion to change nick names on SI, I changed my too<lol>
