I'm curious what the identity of the "Unknown State" is ranked in fifth place. Obviously some little glitch in the webpage.

If California was an independent nation it would be the 6th largest nation in the world in terms of GDP

1. USA GDP = $10,082 Billion (2001)
2. Japan GDP = $4,141 Billion (2001)
3. Germany GDP=$1,846 Billion (2001)
4. UK GDP = $1,424 Billion (2001)
5. France GDP = $1,310 Billion (2001) $21,475 per capita
6. California GDP = $1,309 Billion (2001) $38,500 per capita
7. China GDP = $1,159 Billion (2001)**Excluding Hong Kong $892 per capita

For comparison the population of France is 61 million, the population of California is 34 million, while the population of China is 1.3 billion.
