To argue that if you take precautions against pregnancy and you still get pregnant then you have no choice but to bear the consequences is like arguing that even if you avoid dangerous areas and still get mugged you should bear the consequences...

Not at all. You didn't cause the mugging. If you get pregnant and you where not raped you did cause the pregnancy.

Edit - Re potential - A piece of food has the potential to be eaten and then have some of its protiens or other components wind up in a gamete that can turn in to a human life. Potential can mean different things. Neither the food nor the gamete are human life nor are they going to develop into human life without going through some form of transformation. With the food the transformation required is more extensive, but in terms of human life they are equivilent. A fetus isn't equivilent to either.
