They're excellent designs but they can't be superior products if they can't compete.

If Intel products were superior, there would be no need for Intel to do any illegal dealing (that Intel just admitted in Japan). Like Honda (of the 1980s), Intel chips would sell themselves.

That is not always true. the best product does not always win.
Weaker products win alot.
INTC has the muscle to keep AMD down.
INTC's products are not better,
BUT INTC is much stronger, richer and established.
INTC has the markets and the contacts.

AMD is barely makin it.
For example, INTC has been using flash to put the hurt on AMD recently.
