at what point does a seed in the ground become a tree?

when the cord is cut and the tree is no longer parasitic.

Maybe too complicated for Elroy but I trust you understand it, Steve :)

A fine question, which a botanist may have the answer to. I was thinking about that yesterday, and certainly it must be possible to "plant a tree", and wondering how to do that if the seed in the ground was not a tree.
