You get online and bring up the trading menu.

They will give you options to find out what kind of transaction you want to do.

Typically, the choices may be

Buy
Sell
Sell short
Cover short

and depending on who your broker is, maybe some stuff about options or stops or limits and so forth (ignore all those if they appear).

Pick the third one (SELL SHORT), tell them how many shares, confirm the transaction.

That's it. Done deal. They will take care of everything else.
