What is the best way to play sugar (other than futures)?

Sugar is only about 3% of the portfolio of PCRDX.

Why SUGAR – well will try to make it short and simple

1. population growth – more sugar
2. standard of living in India China goes up – more sweets in the diet – more sugar
3. Brazil biggest sugar cane producer – soybean competing crop
4. Oil getting more expensive – more use of Ethanol in Brazil less sugar cane available for sugar
5. Water table in India getting lower due to increased crop growing of all kinds for food – less sugar cane harvest - less sugar
6. More successive droughts in SE Asia – less sugar cane

Keep in mind beets are not as efficient in growing and sugar content as sugar cane and IMHO sugar will be the “mine canary” as most other beans will follow due to upcoming food shortage 10 years later.

For some reason people ignore the explosive population growth in ME, Africa and SE Asia
