And here I thought that it was named the "Carter-Baker Commission." The fact that Conyers is already agitated gives me hope that some useful recommendations will come out of the commission's work. As for Conyers not being invited to testify, I suspect that the commission simply wanted to avoid political histionics on its first day of hearing. I'm sure that Rep. Conyers will be given an opportunity to provide his testimony at a later date. We should certainly all be wary, but it might be nice to reserve judgement until we see the commission's final recommendations in September.
