Hi Kirk,

Have you checked the mouse driver in device manager?

Start...right click My Computer...properties...Hardware tab...Device Manager. Check for exclamation marks or question marks.

I've heard people having mouse problems sometimes solve the problem by deleting the mouse driver, rebooting and letting Windows load generic drivers.

What brand mouse do you have?

support.dell.com

logitech.com

Have you checked the mouse connection to see if it's loose?

Kirk--I had an optical mouse that simply got old. The left click button got worn and it started giving me all of the problems you seem to be describing. I had fits rebooting software and all the other stuff. A new mouse and things went right back to normal.
All the Best
