Smithee, Podiatry is a fairly recently recognized medical specialty, and many medical people have come to prefer podiatrists to orthopedic surgeons for foot and ankle surgery and other treatments. Podiatrists, being near the bottom of the medical prestige pecking order, try harder. Seriously, though, podiatrists tend to be a thorough and meticulous lot. - Holly
