Look Chris, I didn't mean to be rude but I just think all this beating around the bush from an environmental perspective is counter productive. The good senator wants to limit the farms that are satisfying the vast bulk of the salmon demand without approaching the real problem cauz it ain't politically popular.

For sure the Japanese and others (United States) don't seem to givadamn about what they do. Just remember that the fish they harvest they eat. They gotta get their food from somewhere. Other sources would of course be less damaging but putting farm land into production reduces habitat for wildlife as well.

I know those of you who have been on this thread long enuff think I'm one dimensional. But when the problem is a matter of natural resource depletion it's really a matter of overpopulation . I just can't see talking about managing the resource given that the supply demand situation is so far outa whack. The longer we delude ourselves with the idea that just a little recycling ,proper management, use of limited alternatives ,conservation and jailing the bad guys is the solution the bigger the problem is gonna get. Yeah, yeah all that stuff is good and needs to be done but no matter how you spin it the real problem is there are just too many humans on this planet. Conservation alone will not ,no matter how much we want it to, solve the problem.Unpleasant choices are gonna hafta be made eventually ....like it or not.
