It is not my fantasy, sorry to break the hews to you.
The scheme was discovered by
someone at Forbes Magazine and published in mid-1998.
The article uncovered this pattern with Microsoft, Dell,
Cisco, Intel, and few more companies. With facts of earnings
and their overstatements due to under-reported labor
expenses. Since then the
topic of expensing of options was gradually attracting
more and more attention until even some accounting changes
were instituted, I am not following the topic lately.
