JJ,

Once again thanks for the sentiment and thanks for running the contest. As I said before it makes earnings season that much more interesting - kinda like betting football.

Thanks JJ

For all the excellent work to host the contest. Congratulations for winning two of three longterm categories of the contest again.

Congrats for all winners, in particular for I-Banker for kicking serious butts this quarter.

Congrats for the Pros as well for taking the lead in the Intel longrange-race. One of them recently leaked that probably everybody of their team would qualify for Team Lurker in the contest btw - although nobody would admit it publicly. :)

K.

05Q2 AMD & Intel EPS Contest Officially Begins

Some helpful links are posted at the end of this message.

A few key items about this quarter's contest (which are also elaborated upon in the rules page linked below):

DEADLINE: The entry deadline will not be set until we get confirmation on when AMD is reporting earnings. To avoid any confusion like we had 3 quarters ago (AMD reported much earlier than expected, causing us to move our deadline forward) I recommend entering sooner rather than later. Intel is reporting on July 19th and AMD is probably reporting a week or so earlier, but there is no way to know for sure. Bottom line, get your entry in sooner rather than later and you don't have to be concerned about it.

ONE-TIME CHARGES: Same as last quarter, we are no longer going to adjust earnings for the contest results because of one-time charges.

CHANGE OF INTEL CATEGORIES: We changed them for last quarter and we're sticking with the new categories. See the rules for more info.

ENTRY PHASES: We start the contest with the "early entry phase" where the bonuses are bigger but none of the entries or statistical data is revealed. Once we get about 20 entries or by about July 1st (whichever comes first, give or take) we will begin the "regular entry phase". Entries and statistical entry data are revealed for all to see, but bonuses are smaller for those entering in this latter phase. If AMD decides to report early we may also start the regular entry phase earlier than scheduled.

PRIZES: We give out 3 T-shirts and 3 quarterly SI & iHub subscriptions for each contest. See the 'Prizes' link below for more details.
