In most cases we have done nothing but talk. Israel was a strategic partner during the cold war, a fellow democracy etc. Palestinian doctrine is to this day the destruction of israel and ridding the area of all jews. It was clear then and clear very recently that there was no compromise in the Pal position. Perhaps now that will change now. You dont see 100 million arabs at war with a state with 6 million or so jews and the size of a very small US state as a threat?
