I think if you asked Americans "If the Palestinians and the Israelis all vanished tomorrow, would you approve?", a VAST majority would say, YES!


I doubt it. The evangelicals seem quite attached to Israel as a project, for starters, and they are 40% of the country. Most Americans see Israel as another country of immigrants, self-made, scrappy, democratic, and have some fellow feeling for on that basis, even if they are not Jewish or evangelical.

Furthermore, the multi-culti post-colonial guilt that has swung Europe against Israel doesn't operate much in America, except in some Blue State regions. And the press is more pro-Israel than in Europe, where Israeli casualties are dry numbers while the Pal dead, including the bombers, get full sympathy treatment.
