it's a house of cards.

Yes it is. Many years ago, most people ran for office from a deep conviction of their public duty. Now many people do it as a path to success. For many people being in the Senate or House, or other high elective office is the pinnacle of their careers. We have the wrong people involved in politics, ON BOTH SIDES OF THE AISLE.

For some, like Jim McDermott, there is genuine corruption. For others like Nancy Pelosi and Tom DeLay, there is the appearance of impropriety.

Nothing would please me more than to expunge politics of all of the Packwood, Clinton, Byrd, Jeffords, Kennedy, DeLay, Pelosi, Reid, etc. types. It might not last for ever, but even a respite would be refreshing.
