I read here on SI in the past few days I think that many years ago this bank had merged and had like 22 branch offices it didn't need anymore and shut down - so this local real estate guy bought them up to sell them and made a ton of money in just a few months and he got in touch with some big broker and the early reits started - now I live north of tampa - and right after that cvs pharmacy/eckerd merge there are TONS of closed pharmacies in excellent high volume locations in my city - like 5 within a short drive from me, and they have been sitting empty for awhile - I don't know if that is true in tampa, or clearwater or sarasota - but if reits and commercial real estate were so good shouldn't these properties already have been snatched up and a new business in there paying rent?
