I said not a mechanical way, yes some kind of pattern recognition, neural networks etc.... One of our professors here though is adamant that the brain is not a computer in the classical Turing machine sense... (Selmer Bringsjord). Buying or selling does leave its mark in the market, though more sophisticated players try to lessen the effects.... The majority of economists don't believe in TA, the kind of tests they set up aren't sophisticated enough... but some do and I am one of that minority....
