Some really naive people still talk about the U.S. withdrawing the military from Iraq.

This is absolutely silly.

The current budget for new permanent military bases in Iraq is $500 Million. This will be going up with each supplemental budget. In addition to this funding of 14 permanent military bases, the current supplemental also has a budget of $592 Billion for the construction of the largest American embassy on the planet. It will be built in Baghdad.

All the silly chatter about the military being "liberators", all the ridiculous talk about "democracy" in Iraq, all the empty rhetoric about handing Iraq over to the Iraqis should simply be laughed at.

The Bushies have colonized Iraq and will continue to destroy the people of that country with dozens of devious schemes. The news on Bechtel's work on water supply systems is typical. After 2 years and tens of millions of dollars spent on these systems we now have a perfect record. All 24 of 24 plants that Bechtel has been paid to repair are today completely non-functional. Of course, for the guys who write planning documents like this, gulflink.osd.mil
Bechtel has achieve perfect strategic success.

GOD BLESS AMERICA! "Genocide, it's a good thing!"(TM)
