The colonialists screwed Egypt for years. He was right to take it, and we were right to let him.

So if you "feel screwed", you have a right to just take what you like? No need to build or invest for yourself, just grab the work of others? Is that your idea of "legal" everywhere or does it just work for Nasser?

The Ottomans screwed Egypt for hundreds of years. By every account, British colonial rule was a big improvement, which was not maintained when the Egyptian took over for themselves. But somehow the Ottoman legacy of misrule never gets mentioned. It was obviously imperial but Turks aren't white enough to count as bad guys in the modern lexicon, I guess.
