I just posted the quote. I did not write it. But from what I know about Ingrid Newkirk (I'm reading one of her books), she clearly cherishes all life. I think she is not in any way trying to lessen the horror of the Holocaust, but to point out that we are very selective in how we view these things. Every chicken that you eat has suffered far worse horrors than any Holocaust victim, every day of its life. Why is that not also an unspeakable horror instead of an inexpensive and delicious meal for you is more that point I believe she is making. PETA is not allowed by the tv networks or many billboard advertising companies to even purchase advertising (because of their other clients, Big Meat and Big Dairy). PETA has been forced to be rather outrageous in the way it frames things because of these constraints, to get any attention at all for its campaigns. Imagine if McDonald's could not advertise! What an outroar there would be.
