PETA is forced, as I said a few posts back, to do extremely overwrought dramatizations to get their point across, since they cannot advertise freely. But they are doing it with good heart. That woman devoted her day, her privacy and dignity, to illustrate what it feels like to live in a tiny cage. Would you like to live like that? They are hoping that if they talk long enough, one day when you are enjoying a chicken breast you might think of the sorrow of the chicken's life, realize it had a beating heart like you and wanted to enjoy sunshine and flap its wings. Then perhaps your perceptions might slowly change. It is difficult for me to understand why people are so darn proud of themselves when expressing the most insensitive positions. They almost crow about them, like a rooster would.

i can tell you i did my bit the other day for the cause of animal rights (well actually i think i would call it animal preservation)

i was riding my bike on a trail that circles a lake and during the spring...the local fauna make their appearance...and i being the more intelligent animal, with excellent peripheral vision and reflexes, swerved to avoid not one, but TWO snakes which had slithered out on the pavement to warm themselves...

knowing i was able to spare both a needless slaughter...and that they were free to go, kill, and eat, so that the snakes could live and go, kill and eat again, and again...

well...i felt like some kind of mythical benign snake goddess!
