I always thought San Francisco was known for it's unique cultural nightlife.

my, but aren't we defensive!
Madam, I am NOT the one whining about "Frisco". Keep that in mind.

I do believe that referring to San Francisco as "The City" is a bit affected
Down where I am, we don't think it's "a bit affected". We think it's hilarious.

As for corrupt cops and drunken firefighters, I cannot comment.
I can. And did. And can cite numerous scandals to back me up.

Not ALL of CA has yet reached The Nether Regions. In the last 30 years, I can remember not one scandal involving the cops and firefighters of the town I live in or of its several neighbors. Now maybe they're just better at covering them up. OTOH, their cops and firefighters are well paid and have good bennies and have a good deal to lose if they get caught on the wrong side of the law. It might just slow them down.
