Since I need to be, oh so correct, apparently, please allow me to clarify. The BELIEF that the gov't will take care of you is a stupid belief. The person who shares that belief is probably not stupid in and of themself, just merely this one single belief.

I used to not believe in God, or rather I was uncertain of my belief. Now, I believe whole heartedly. I know lots of "learned" people consider that stupid and worse.

I understand your oh so sensitive viewpoint of how we must include the thoughts and feelings and ramifications of everything we do, how it might impact or slight others, before we act or speak. I just don't believe in it. Doesn't make me a lout, just makes me a bit less sensitive than you.

Perchance I should meet the lady who said she totally trusted the gov't to provide for her in person and she espoused those beliefs to me, believe me I would not tell her she was stupid. I would probably steer the conversation into a path where I could ask why she thought that, what examples she has seen where that has worked out and why she should trust them. If nothing else, I would try & get her to THINK! I'm not quite so callous and dim witted and you & Grainne seem to try & make me out to be. You two are very sharp at pointing out how you are better than me in almost every post you make. You do it very sly, but none the less you do it.
