My views do overlap with yours in important ways -- where we perhaps differ is on the use of American "power". I believe that the mis-use of American power undermines our strength as a nation and our ability to make the world more secure, healthy and prosperous. We tout our "ideals" but undermine our own ideals with our own actions. And our actions speak far louder than our words -- indeed, our words seem increasingly like propaganda in the worst possible sense. I want a strong America -- and a strong America cannot be a "superpower" that prefers to be isolated intellectually from the rest of the world, while using firepower to control the course of history. That is the road to self-destruction that we are on today.
