Clapper

<This year they opened the event to the parents for a separate
race. There is an entry fee of $15 to help raise funds for
the pack.>

What a great idea! You could always tell that about 70% of the cars were built by parents.

Is graphite still used as the state-of-the-art lubricant for the axles? A18's car was wonderful...coats of paint, flame decals, and quarters glued on the rear deck at the eleventh hour before race time to make the weight. He got such satisfaction and excitement from the derby.

The car sits quietly on the workshop bench in the garage...still looks good...like an antique race car.
