That isn't an evil little meme. It's how it is. Me is what nature is about in the biological world which is what we are in. The me meme is nature at work. But short-sighted psyches see a very circumscribed sense of 'me'. < it was the Ayn Rand ME ME ME meme - her selfishness eventually blew up her life - temporarily blew up his - and for many students blew up our AI class and set us back a quarter and others missed out on his excellent teaching - she forgot to read her buddhist teachers how that little evil meme butterfly effect magnifies. > People vote themselves poor because they think they can vote to take other people's wealth. The logic seems impeccable to them. "I vote for the guy who will give me the most money and other perks." There's nothing wrong with looking after "me". What's wrong with most ideas of "me" is that people are unable to figure out what's good for themselves. Not to mention the definition of "themselves" itself. By that I mean, one's mind isn't really anything more than an expression of one's DNA and experiences. No DNA = no mind. So the best manifestation of one's mind is more of the same DNA. That's what nature has been working on for a billion years. Nature has combined mitochondria and billions of cells and symbiotic extras into a big me and is combining billions of people into a bigger me and we are now producing an extrasomatic cyberspace me.
