An atheist made the challenge regarding Jesus's existence on a CNN program. Four, nationally known religious figures, a Catholic priest, a Protestant minister, a Rabbi and a Muslim leader, ducked the statement.

And this is supposed to show what exactly?

The atheist was presumably well prepared with his part of his argument, he probably makes it all the time.

The "he" was a she.

The religious figures are not exactly used to someone making that specific challenge and it would not be surprising that they where not prepared for it. 2 of the religious figures were not even Christians so they might not even care that much (well the Muslim's do consider Jesus to be a prophet, but still the issue is not central to them).

Are you saying the fact that Jesus might not exist is so secret that these two Christians who have been around the block a few times had never been challenged in their 70 years of life with 50 of those years as priest/ministers? If that's true, then the whole thing is starting to sound rather pathetic.

So you basically have the fact that two Christians were not prepared to answer the argument of an atheist and that is supposed to prove anything?

No......it was startling but it proved nothing. However, since then, I have found there is considerable ambiguity over the existence of Jesus. So much so that people have amassed considerable info supporting that position. I find it incredulous that these people have gone to such lengths with the ministers above totally oblivious to the whole thing. Its like an MD not knowing that AIDS is spread primarily through the exchange of bodily fluids.

In any case, it appears that there is some genuine doubts about Jesus and whether he existed or not.
