A big reason why i do not understand these so called Catholics who want their own menu for Catholism. I think they would be much more happier if they searched out other religious organizations.

John - I think a big part of it is an emotional connection to the church. John Powers wrote a few terrific books about growing up Catholic; one, Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up?, was made into a really entertaining musical about 25 years ago. It talks about the Catholic School kids' view that there are two major religions: Catholic and Public, which includes Catholic kids who don't go to Catholic school (I still remember the nuns telling us on Friday to bring all of our things home because the Public School Kids are coming in for religion class over the weekend). There's a very amusing chapter on Buying Pagan Babies; the author saved up enough to buy his own so he could name it himself. He wanted Trigger, but the nun made him go with Francis.

Powers also said something along the lines that "asking someone if he's still Catholic is like asking someone if he's still Black".

America is a pick and choose country, free to practice your religion as you feel and your beliefs in God. A big reason why i do not understand these so called Catholics who want their own menu for Catholism. I think they would be much more happier if they searched out other religious organizations.

If you don't buy into the Papal Infallibiity decree from the Vatican Counsel in 1870, a lot of things change.

Ultimately, IMO, you have to be responsible for your own faith. You can't say you were only following orders.
