Whitewater was a dirty smear campaign, pure and simple. If Rove didn't do it himself, it was pure Rove. The land deal was just some minor thing they trumped up which wasn't even true. Then they used that excuse to investigate Clinton personally, including his secret sex life. That's what they wanted all along. The reason they had to smear Clinton was that he was so successful as a president and such a beloved guy. They were basically just really jealous. CLinton sinned, but they sinned worse.

The hate-filled RNC was looking for ANYTHING to pin on Clinton. They were both terrified AND jealous of his popularity and success. If it wasn't Monika, it would have been something else. Considering how many times BUSH and his minions have lied in public, lied in private, lied under oath, Clinton looks like Snow White. Rightwingers never take any responsibility for their incompetence, egregious behavior and lies. They do, however, expect Progressives to be perfect. Odd.
