Moom, the point is not that you or TJ are interested in NZ. It's to demonstrate that TJ's ideas of inevitability and annexation and bigger and bigger are not necessarily the way of the world. An obvious example of an analogy sometimes helps people see an alternative idea.

It's fascinating how difficult it is to get such ideas across. <Yeah but we aren't obsessed with NZ...>

The difference is there are no violent megalomaniacs in NZ and Oz wanting to be the big boss of both.

It really makes no difference whatsoever to Yiwu the Mad and Bubba the Babbling whether Taiwan is a fully independent country or not. It's only in their fevered minds that it matters.

Taiwanese will still trade with China. People will travel from one place to the other. They'll do the normal things people do, whether they are one country or not. Provided of course that the megalomaniacs running Beijing don't foul things up, or encourage the bureaucrats to get in the way.
