Claude was talking about the people around him i think, not himself, he is a common sense guy, libertarianish leanings, posted the www.libertarian.ca site upthread

One thing that maybe is considered so-con, i don't believe in changing the definition of words so central to society as 'marriage' ... call it something else if it's not a marriage, please, take all the same tax and inheritance etc treatment under the law, but do not mess with the Queen's english ... at the same time, this is not all that important relative to other things

Sovereignty is the most crucial issue, imho, we won't have a country long if we don't ourselves take care of its security ... a functioning coast guard on all three coasts is absolutely necessary, it's ridiculous how little we do now in that regard ... the entire military has been too starved too long, it's beyond a joke ... and where are we on diplomacy, it's been a long time since we had a Pearson, somehow you know the next one won't be a Liberal like he was .... that was bizarre the way Chrétien handled the Iraq invasion, he did not have the balls to stand up and tell Bush and Chirac they were both wrong

Sovereignty means also, that when you've got some phoney 'free trade' deal going and your trading 'partner' puts up tariff walls against your lumber and beef et al and still expects you to puke evermore cheap energy across his border, you disillusion him forthwith, and smartly .... there used to be a canadian spine, ask Ludendorff ... maybe we can resurrect it, a good stout firm spine with a big friendly grin, and fangs

<They've said that they will have no bills with respect to abortion.>

I know. But I was talking about attitudes. They are perceived here as anti-this and anti-that.

<If you've decided that you hate the Conservatives, and that the Liberals (hideous warts and all) are what you want, then fine. That's your democratic right. >

If you are talking about me, I do not hate anbody.

<Don't piss on those Canadians who think we can expect better as somehow "un-Canadian." >

If you are talking about me, I do not piss on anybody.

I just think that more government = more troubles. I would like them to take care of Justice and Security.. but that is about it.
