Bush's buddy, Pooty, bemoans the collapse of The Soviet Union as a tragedy: apnews1.iwon.com The collapse was mostly positive, though it has certainly hurt self determinantcy in third world countries, making them all potential victims of American imperialism. At the same time, it boosted self determinantcy in Second World countries.

It sure screwed up Olympic competition, where Soviet and East German he/shes used to dominate the female side.
