Your first comment about Bush is right on! In fact, if you didn't see Paul Krugman's column today you should read it. I would go one step further. Bush's need for yes-men stems not merely from dishonesty, but from a fundamental aggression and arrogance-and from the fear that drives it all. The reason he likes Bolton, for example, is because he suffers from the same disease-as it was put so well by someone who knows him, "an inability to take other people's views into account." Naaahhhh. He's just not smart enough to take other people's views into account--that's why we have fake "town hall meetings."
