Yes, of course death is everywhere, unavoidable, a part of life. But I still believe that vegans are responsible for less deaths than non-vegans. You do not have to explain anything you write here, but I am curious as to what priorities prevent you from hunting. Of course you do not need to comment; I am not trying to pry. Someone killed a large rodent in the backyard last year. My guess is that the rodent was ill somehow. It was too big to be natural cat hunting material. Our bird and squirrel feeders are situated so that it would be difficult for a cat to have the element of surprise. Of course they may have killed birds, but I am not aware of any. Our old cat with terminal cancer still makes hunting sounds when she watches the birds in the feeder, but she is watching through the window. Cats do kill birds. I don't know what to say about it. This is a natural hunting relationship. The cat has not become a sentient being with no need for meat. There are no vegan bakeries for them to visit, instead. I do not need meat. They do. In nature, I think we need to be respectful and stay back, unless we have upset the balance and bear some responsibility. I do not think hunting cats with guns is the answer, though. Sterilization and adoption make more sense to me.
