GMAC may consider debt buybacks on an opportunistic basis, Khattri told the conference, but would never do anything to compromise the company's liquidity.

"Liquidity is paramount, sacred. We will protect liquidity," he told Reuters.

"But we have a cash desk now that is investing $18 to $20 billion of cash," Khattri said. "We want our cash to sweat, so we will be opportunistic and within reasonable amounts we're going to do it.


This CFO is funny. So they have $18-20 billion cash. It wasn't that long ago they had closer to $30B. They have something like $300B in debt. Yep. Start buying.
