I don't have any answers on this at all. Do you?

as a parent, best you can do is set a good example by eating well, exercising for the sake of health and wellbeing or for the enjoyment of the activity itself

i think more and more they realize the images are 'enhanced' digitally, but knowing it intellectually (helpful) still doesn't erase the emotional reaction of these young girls to the images.

so it's important to stress a balance of personal development, without undue focus on the personal image....and as i said, best done by example.

i personally focused my attention with my daughter toward her educational development, and subsequently her career....she is very physically fit, and has a strong interest physical activities, sports (predominately tennis and participates as her schedule allows....actually no, she makes time for it) ) routinely works out, etc....but she seems not to be fixated on her physical appearance instead being interested in simply keeping fit and the enjoyment she gets from her physical endeavors themselves....not just a means to and end

as long as girls can be shown the benefits of keeping physically fit, properly motivated, as opposed to trying to imitate a false ideal, they have a better chance of developing a positive self image, imo
