Also, experience the courage and tenacity of the 48th AHC through combat footage and interviews.

Hear a (real) radio transmission here, two ships down, one just crashed and burned... Site also has information and photos.

Mike Sloniker, one heck of a Lam Son 719 historian.

Cockpit Audio Tapes from Lam Son 719 - The Real Thing

Lam Son 719 was a major operation of the ARVN, into Laos in 1971. The U.S. provided all aviation assets for this operation. A/101 AVN was one of the aviation units in this operation, along with being the sole 101st Airborne aviation unit supporting the Special Operations Group in I Corp, during the month of February 1971. The objective was to disrupt an ongoing North Vietnamese Army supply buildup at Tchepone, Laos. American Helicopter Units supported and provided all transportation of ARVN troops/supplies into and out of Laos during this operation. US Helicopter Crewmen went up against the heaviest anti-aircraft barrage incurred in the War. The enemy opposition comprised of a permanent logistical force of engineers, transportation, and anti-aircraft troops, together with elements of five divisions, 12 infantry regiments, a tank regiment, an artillery regiment, and 19 anti-aircraft battalions.

This American hasn't forgotten her brave and courageous fellow Americans who flew in and out of this hell multiple times to complete the mission. Gentlemen, I salute you!

Read back, see who owns the digs.

That's just my point about your presumption of conflict. What digs?

I kept offering you ways to let yourself off the hook gracefully.

I offered that you just hadn't noticed that the timing of the event didn't meet the print issue deadlines.
I offered that you had just neglected to look at CNN, the leading source for breaking international news.
I offered that you had just used web google for your news rather than the more effective google news.
I offered that you had just popped off, which was no big deal.
I offered you a simple closeout on the colloquy based on fixed mindset.
I offered that what you were really upset about was that Bush wasn't credited and that your stated complaint was just a proxy for your real complaint.

All these ways I offered a hand and you could have taken it easily. As in "yeah, I forgot about that" or "yeah, I take your point."

The essence of insanity is an inability to get along with others. At least one of us is nuts.

In my world, letting people off the hook when they're hanging out there is part of getting along with people--it's what nice people do. Rejecting the proffered hand, OTOH, seems like a predisposition for conflict. (Notice I didn't say "nuts" because that might be considered a dig. <g> )
