Cascade Microtech 1-Overweight / 9.80 (USD)
Better Than Expected Q1 EPS Sector: 1-Positive
_ Cascade's strong Q1 performance is the result of robust investment in advanced process
technology by chipmakers, and continued acceptance of advanced probe cards by logic
manufacturers. We continue to rate the shares 1 - Overweight.
_ Q1 EPS were $0.21, well above guidance of $0.10 to $0.14, and our estimate of $0.14. Revenues of
$18.7 mill. exceeded our $17.5 mill. estimate, and the gross margin rose sharply.
_ Engineering probe stations did better than expected, growing 31% year-to-year, while logic probe card
revenues were as expected (up more than 80% year-to-year).
_ Guidance calls for lower Q2 results, due to more conservative assumptions on the amount of business
booked and shipped in the same quarter, and on product mix (which affects the gross margin).
_ We are raising our 2005 EPS estimate to $0.80 from $0.73, and maintaining our 2006 EPS estimate of
$1.00.
_ It is our view that there is upside potential to our estimates for Cascade in an industry recovery
