True. But it is something that theologians discuss. My pastor was certainly aware of at least some of the issues. I strongly suspect the Catholic priest would also be familiar with the issue. The Protestant minister is more iffy, not all branches of Protestantism require much in the way of training to become a minister. So whether or not lay people commonly discuss the issue is irrelevant.

That's exactly the point. People don't think about it because they had no idea there was a credibility problem. Its amazing that this information isn't more well known. Every person I have mentioned it to was surprised if not shocked. That's 10 to 15 educated, fairly well informed people who had no idea. Why is this discussion not more prevalent? Its a big issue. I suspect ducking the question like I saw on CNN is SOP for religious leaders........the reason being because their position in the argument is not very defensible.
