...millions of African Americans left the South during the "Great Migration" essentially leaving what was then Blue States to Red States. After the South became Republican, there is now a significant net migration of Blacks back to the South from the Midwest, Northeast and Far West - once again migrating from Blue States to Red States. Incomes for Blacks are higher in the South than the Midwest, fewer blacks are unemployed in the South than any other region, there are more black public officials in the South than any other region, and there is less housing segregation in the South than the Northeast and Midwest.
