JDN, I keep hearing people say that the privatization of SS will force them to invest in the stock market, which scares many of them. As I understood, the premise of this act would be to let people keep 2% of what would have been paid into the FICA, and invest it however they chose to do so. Given the freedom to control how these funds are invested sounds like a very good idea to me.

If one looks at the present system closely, they would see that about 70% of the funds collected from workers, goes to waste in the bureaucratic processing of the funds. Looking at what I contributed to the SS, and what I will get back, I could have amassed a lot more money for my own retirement than the government will ever allot to me.

SS has long been a no no for everyone, that's why it is so brave of Bush to stip up to the plate and tackle the problem head on. The young people were ready to revolt, and I don't blame them.

The democrats are for giving away everything until it is gone, and then what???? Socialism has never worked, and robbing SS for years has finally caught up to the piper.
