I came up with the super size analogy in a discussion with my left wing son-in-law. Bush/Rove ran on Reagan squared. Thats ok when you are running but not when you are governing. Reagan raised taxes when he deemed it necessary. All bush has to do is cut spending more and not ideologize tax cutting into a religion. Reagan got out of lebanon after making a mistake in getting involved there. Reagan thought internationalist and neocon in his dealings with the USSR was very cautios in fp. He went against some advisors when he befriended Gorby.
Reagan certainly wasnt a super size religious rightist although he was clearly a social con. My point is not that bush shouldnt be a reaganite; its that he isnt really anymore. Reaganism require a big tent and a pragmatic side too. Mike
