I know some pro Mao people who are high capitalists too. I guess for different reasons, like nationalistics rather than making money. Most of the early reformers after Mao's death, they are all strong pro Mao communists but carried different perspective on how to improve the economy and the general welfare of the people. Rather than mere words "communist" or "socialist" or "democray", one should look at the deeds of the country's leadership - what's its vision for the future, how it directs or rows the boat toward that goals.
